Robin Hood Will Search City for World Leaders

With world leaders of the G-8 nations fleeing the U.S.’ third largest city by moving their May summit to the rural woods outside Washington, the nation’s largest nurses union will bring Camp David and the G-8 summit back to Chicago for a special event on Friday, May 18. With the help of Robin Hood’s band of merry women and men, National Nurses United, joined by Tom Morello, healthcare, labor and other community activists, and guests from other G-8 nations, will reconstruct Camp David in Chicago and conduct a search for the absent G-8 leaders. In a public event, the nurses, Robin Hood, and friends, will seek to remind the global leaders, who have abandoned Chicago of the daily plight of their constituents who have been fleeced by the world banks and the 1 percent, of the need to return some of that wealth through a Robin Hood tax on financial speculation. A centerpiece of the day is the call on world leaders to adopt national and international Robin Hood financial transaction taxes on major trading by banks and other financial institutions to raise revenue critically needed for revitalizing the economic health of the U.S. and other G-8 nations. • Title:  #OccupyOil the Sequel

    • Location:  Everywhere
    • When:  May 22nd, 2012 - All Day
    • Description:  #OccupyOil the Sequel: The road to SHELL is paved with bad intentions: BLOODY MONEY, Tar Sands, Rossport, Niger Delta On the 8th of Feb this year Occupy Oil held it first day of mass action. Shell Stations across the UK and indeed further afield were blockaded or picketed. We are back and on the 22nd of May 2012 we are holding Occupy Oil the Sequel, Shell Oil will be holding their AGM in The Hague with an audio-visual link to a satellite meeting place in London. We are calling on all occupiers, groups and individuals to come together and send a clear message to Shell Oil. Royal Dutch Shell is one of the largest players in tar sands, producing approximately 276 000 barrels per day or roughly 20% of total exports from Alberta. Shell has put forth applications to expand its capacity through new mines and in situ projects, to a projected 770 000 barrel per day capacity. However, strong community resistance to Shell has damaged their reputation with both shareholders and the public. Indeed, Shell has been named in five lawsuits related to tar sands developments and has faced shareholder resolutions demanding greater clarity over the risk of tar sands investments. It’s time to make a stand. On the 22nd of MAY 2012 we will Occupy Petrol Stations across the GLOBE. We call on activists to organise yourselves into affinity groups and join this action world-wide. Make banners, get sound systems and pick targets. As the date approaches we can co-ordinate actions for maximum impact. Let’s send another shot in our war against the global elites.

    • Title:  Food Not Bombs World Gathering

    • Location:  , , Tampa Florida
    • When:  Aug 20th, 2012 - All Day
    • Description:  We put forth several proposals to move the creation of this event along. We will be creating a rideshare page with the intent of connecting as many people as possible who wish to attend but do not have the resources on their own. This is a big priority. We will be linking people to housing in Tampa during this week, more TBA. We can at this point announce several workshops to take place that week and call on those who come to submit additional workshops. Tampa Mayor Buckhorn announced that he would do all he can to stop the protests and disrupt our effort to provide food. We are organizing a global effort to defend our rights. After all the political parties in the United States are responsible for the economic and political crisis forcing millions to go hungry each month. The Republican Party should respect our right to protest and share food with the hungry. Please contact Amnesty International and the United Nations and ask them to organize a campaign to defend our rights. The Republican National Committee provided millions of dollars to local police to silence opposition to their policies in 2008. It is important that we start to organize today.

    • Title:  Crash the Republican National Convention 2012

    • Location:  St. Pete Times Forum, 401 Channelside Drive, Tampa FL
    • When:  Aug 27th, 2012 - All Day
    • Description:  In August of 2012, the Republican National Convention will be held in the sunny, humid, sub-tropical belly of the beast of Tampa Bay, Florida. The Tampa Bay Action Group (TBAG), a decentralized collective of anarchists strewn throughout the urban and swampy reaches of Florida, is committed to making 2012 and the RNC in Tampa a truly catastrophic celebration of liberty.  Though we do not take sides with Dems or Reps, the Republicans and their racist Tea Party stooges happen to be the tyrants-dejour entering our waters. We intend to demonstrate what a real tea party looks like: the direct and deliberate destruction of the commodities of our oppressors! We demand “No taxation and no representation!” We demand to control our own lives and this can only be realized when the corporate-state ownership of our land and bodies is removed. Start preparing today. We will see you in the streets!

    • Title:  Occupy the Democratic National Convention

    • Location:  Time Warner Cable Arena, 333 East Trade Street, Charotte NC
    • When:  Sep 3rd, 2012 - 12:00 am
    • Description:  In September of 2012, the social justice movements of the United States have an opportunity and obligation to use the spectacle of the Democratic National Convention as a platform to raise people’s demands for justice on the world stage. Progressives from around the state, from across the South and from all over the country will converge in Charlotte to oppose policies of the Democratic Party and their banking cronies. Charlotte is the “Wall Street of the South.” With the world headquarters of Bank of America and the East Coast headquarters of Wells Fargo, it is the second largest concentration of finance capital in the U.S., after New York City. We need a people’s movement for justice for the 99%. Economic crises at home and abroad intensify while jobs and vital services have been cut at municipal, state and federal levels. The Democrats and Republicans are pushing austerity programs while simultaneously brokering deals that bail out and benefit banks and large corporations. Public workers in North Carolina and Virginia are denied their right to collectively bargain, and workers elsewhere across the country are seeing this right under attack. Under the Democratic Party, the reach of Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) expanded and deportations skyrocketed. U.S. wars abroad have extended and the US continues to spend billions in Afghanistan and Iraq. U.S. war drones fly over the Middle East and Africa. Antiwar and international solidarity activists are targeted in FBI raids and Grand Jury witch hunts while we continue to fight for freedom for long-incarcerated U.S. political prisoners like Leonard Peltier and Mumia Abu-Jamal. We have seen a rise in bigotry and political targeting of Muslim and Arab people. We want to see justice and equality for Black, Native, Latina/o peoples, for women and for LGBTQ peoples. We must call for a moratorium on foreclosures and evictions! We oppose the attack on our planet by big corporations; we must continue the fight for environmental justice and demand our right to a healthy air, land, and water. Now more than ever we need a powerful mass movement that can challenge the pro-war, pro-Wall Street agendas of the two corporate parties. We see the seeds of this movement all around us. Join the Coalition to Protest at the DNC to plan actions and events that will take place during the convention. Read through our Principles of Unity (adapted from the St. Paul Principles & Chicago Principles). Then begin working with us to develop plans for Charlotte, as we come together in resistance to the economic crisis, the banks, the wars and all the attacks on working people! OCCUPY THE DNC! OCCUPY WALL ST SOUTH!
